For invited members
Someone you know — a family member, a friend, a colleague — runs a server at home and has invited you to share it. This section walks you through what to expect.
What you’ll be able to do
Section titled “What you’ll be able to do”Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to open the apps they chose to share. Common ones include:
- A media app like Jellyfin or Plex for watching films and TV.
- A photo app like Immich or PhotoPrism for browsing family photos.
- A dashboard, a file share, a smart-home controller, whatever they’ve set up.
You access them from your phone, tablet, or TV by opening the atreoLINK app and tapping the app you want.
What you’ll need
Section titled “What you’ll need”- An invite link from the person who runs the server (it’ll arrive by email or message).
- An iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Apple TV, or Android TV.
- An authenticator app on your phone (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, or similar). Required for two-factor authentication.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Their server is at their house. The atreoLINK app builds an encrypted WireGuard tunnel directly between your device and their server, with no traffic passing through anyone else’s hands. When you tap an app, you’re talking straight to their server.
The tunnel keeps running in the background, so notifications arrive even when atreoLINK isn’t on screen, and native apps (Plex, Jellyfin, Home Assistant) can use the tunnel transparently. On TV the same flow applies; the only difference is there’s no Notifications tab on TV.
The five-minute version
Section titled “The five-minute version”-
Install the app on your phone or TV.
-
Open your invite link. Taps through to the app and starts the sign-up flow.
-
Create your account and set up two-factor authentication. Quick, but mandatory.
-
Connect to the server. One tap from the Servers tab.
-
Open an app. Pick from the list and you’re in.
When something goes wrong
Section titled “When something goes wrong”- The invite link won’t open in the app: make sure the app is installed first, then tap the link again.
- “This server isn’t reachable” appears when you try to open an app: go back to Servers and tap Connect.
- You stopped getting push notifications: check Settings → Notifications in your phone settings; atreoLINK needs permission.
For anything else, ask the person who invited you. They can see the state of your account in their atreoLINK dashboard.
