Permissions

When you first launch the app, your phone asks for two permissions:

• VPN configuration. Required so the app can build a secure tunnel to the server you’ve joined. You’ll see a system dialog labelled “atreoLINK Would Like to Add VPN Configurations”. Tap Allow. On iOS, this prompt appears once per paired server (each server gets its own VPN profile) — see Tunnel settings for the details.
• Notifications. Apps on that server can send you push notifications (e.g. “a file has been shared with you”). Allow this if you want them.

You can change either permission later in your phone’s Settings app.

The tunnel keeps running in the background

Once connected, the WireGuard tunnel stays up even when the atreoLINK app is closed or killed. You’ll see a small VPN icon in your status bar while the tunnel is active.

This means native apps work over the tunnel. Open a native client like Plex or Jellyfin and point it at the per-app URL (the open apps page covers this). The tunnel routes the traffic transparently. Notifications also keep arriving in the background, but they’re delivered separately and don’t depend on the tunnel being up.

When you want to disconnect, do it from the Servers tab.
